Inspired by Maud

Join The Writing Fairy® in scenic Leaskdale, home of Lucy Maud Montgomery from 1911 to 1926, for a day of writing inspired by one of Canada’s most beloved authors. Immerse yourself in the Old Ontario setting that nurtured her passion and preeminence as an icon in the writing world. Gain a deeper understanding of why her books tapped into the human experience so universally that they have been translated into more than 35 languages.

Popular creative writing instructor Dorothea Helms will lead participants through guided writing-on-the-spot exercises in the richly historic Leaskdale Church, where Maud’s husband was minister. Enjoy a refreshing lunch prepared by the Lucy Maud Montgomery Society, as well as a tour of the church and the home (manse) where she lived and wrote half of her 22 novels. Bring paper, writing implements and your imagination.
